Laundry Room Upgrade in ONE Day!

My laundry room had great bones—plenty of natural light from a big window and a long counter for folding clothes—but I never wanted to spend time in there. Instead, I always carried laundry to the family room to fold. Sound familiar?
I finally decided to change that, and in just one day, I turned my laundry room into a space I actually enjoy being in. Now, I actually enjoy folding clothes here with a podcast playing—it feels like a little moment of peace in my day.
Here’s how I made my laundry room more functional, cozy, and organized without a big budget or a ton of time:
A Laundry Sorting System That Saves Time – I found a three-section hamper at Walmart, making it easy for my kids to sort their clothes into lights, darks, and towels. Now, I instantly know when a load is ready to wash, and they’re learning responsibility along the way. No more last-minute sorting through piles—why didn’t I do this sooner?
A Drying Rack I Love – The Pottery Barn wall-mounted drying rack is a game-changer. With seven dowels, it’s perfect for air-drying sweaters, swimsuits, and delicates. Plus, the mango wood and aged steel frame tie in beautifully with my existing chrome fixtures.

Stylish and Practical Storage – White dollar-store bins with chalkboard labels keep all the random stuff—Dyson parts, leather oil, extension cords—neatly organized. No more digging around for lost items. Tip: Chalkboard labels make it easy to switch things up later.
Small Touches Make a Big Impact – A cozy rug from Amazon, a few fake plants for a fresh feel, and a DIY spray-painted "Wash & Dry" sign in my favorite color—green. These simple changes made the space feel warm and inviting.
Hooks for Easy Access – I added 3M hooks next to the utility sink for dusters and mop cloths, making them easy to grab when I need them. Tip: Vertical storage keeps clutter off counters and makes daily tasks easier.
Now, instead of avoiding my laundry room, I want to be in here. It’s amazing how much of a difference a few thoughtful updates can make—and the best part? It all came together in a single day.
