It was an honor to help Luke Caldwell design this two-story, farm-style-inspired home in downtown Boise. The original one-story, 900-square-foot home was torn down to its foundation and entirely rebuilt into a 3,000-square-foot home.
The classic farm exterior was developed by combining board and batten and traditional siding. The first-floor roofline is slightly tilted to show off the metal roof and a simple flower box under the side window connects the home to its downtown environment. The front porch is a nod to simpler times, inviting visitors to sit down, relax and enjoy a glass of lemonade.
The home's interior went from choppy and dark to open and airy. The front entrance and sitting area feature a vaulted ceiling with two stories of natural light pouring down into the spaces. The floor plan has a luxurious first-floor owner's suite with children's bedrooms upstairs, a chef's kitchen, a large pantry, and a mudroom.
